General Information
Welcome to the South of France!
Building on the success of the first three International Paediatric Simulation Symposia in Stockholm, Florence, and Madrid we are very pleased to announce the 4th International Pediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops (IPSSW) to be held in Toulouse, France, October 26-27, 2011.
Placed at the foot of the Pyrenees, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, Toulouse stands out for its ideal balance between cultural heritage and scientific innovation. Toulouse is the most important centre in Europe and the second in the world for aeronautics. For this reason the world leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus SAS, producer of the world’s largest airliner, the Airbus A380, chose Toulouse for its Headquarters.
Toulouse is also the most important centre in Europe for spatial activities. The space flight simulator provided inspiration for the Pediatric Simulation, based on the idea that it’s only through hours and hours of practice that perfection can be achieved.
Resolutely modern, yet proud of its past, ‘the Pink City’, so called for its distinctive brick architecture, boasts one of the oldest universities in Europe (founded in 1229) in addition to an outstanding historical and cultural heritage.
A walk through its historical centre unveils a whole series of discoveries: from monumental churches to houses with astonishing terracotta decors; from the magnificent calm of the Saint-Sernin Basilica to the exuberance of its daily markets; from the golden reflections of a winding Garonne at sunset to its 12 museums, established in buildings that are works of art themselves.
Occitania’s pearl, Toulouse blends the sweetness of its incomparable art of living with the strength of a metropolis that looks to the future.
Conference activities will take place in the Pierre Baudis Convention Center, a prestigious venue with impressive exhibition and catering areas located among beautiful gardens in the very heart of Toulouse with easy access via public transport.
